Marina is based in Norfolk and has been writing popular folk and acoustic tracks for many years. About five years ago she found herself in demand as the performer of her own material and somewhat reluctantly stepped into the limelight. Winning the Perennial Professional award at Love Folk Live provided further encouragement. Marina has many recordings under her belt and we are delighted to be involved in the recording of her next album.

From there, Marina Florance's moody voice takes hold of your emotions with ‘The Path He Chose’; a tough song about the eternal issue of young men fighting wars, and if it doesn’t get to you, there’s no hope for your soul

Marina Florance has such a sincere and emotionally honest voice which is perfectly showcased in the country style of the Path He Chose.
Florance sings about the devastation of sending our young men and future fathers to die in wars.
Marina Florance
The message is strong but contrasts with Florance's singing which is gentle, subtle and beautifully harmonic, consequently it's all the more emotive for that.

"Marina Florance sings "The Path he chose", a song detailing the inevitability of a young man following his father and grandfather into a soldier's life and a lament at the political decisions and system that feed war. She points out the equal brutality of war irrespective of person, "IEDs don't discriminate about who they maim and kill" and herself joins a long tradition of singers standing up for those who risk themselves and see such horrors to bring peace. Some describe Marina Florence's voice as chocolate, it strikes me as being more like butterscotch, probably a more divisive taste but sweeter than chocolate and a genuine message of hope for mothers who are seperated and run the risk of caring for their children who've grown up and gone to war" Peter Taranaski Shedancesinthemind blog
