"Last but by no means least is Said The Maiden's "Shady Grove" here the fiddle not only provides the introduction to the core of the song, but helps to bridge the verse chorus nature of the piece and the tight vocal harmonies that give it a real trademark sound as well as providing an instrumental passage that delivers a wonderful counterpoint to the voices" Neil King, FATEA.

"Shady Grove by Said the Maiden. Funnily enough, of almost 50 entrants in a folk orientated competition this was the only traditional entry. I like anything these girls do, they mean it! Loved their arrangement and it lent itself well to my fiddle style" Dave Swarbrick.

Said the Maiden are Dave Swarbrick's tour support act - a delightful English Folk Trio who have been played by Mike Harding on his Folk show, and who are charming audiences across the country with their tight harmonies, playful style and blended unison singing. A perfect balance for this evening of entertainment. Recently opened for Clannad in their home town of St Albans, these girls have also opened for Fisherman's Friends.
