Debut single from this exciting Cumbrian six piece. Heavily influenced by the tradition in Ireland, this track will be on their EP which is expected to be released early Summer.
Irrepressible and exuberant, the newly renamed Cumbrian based folk rock band, The Black Guards, are proud to release their debut recording, a single, Drawn In.
Emerging from a melting pot of Cumbrian talent, the six piece were until last month working under the moniker of D’Bleedin Blaggards, and as such have earned a reputation in their northwest locale for their live shows bursting with blistering energy. Lead singer and lynch pin, Paul O’Halloran has been juggling a dynamic group of talented multi instrumentalists for a few years and the line up has now happily settled. Sharing the stage with Paul are Andrew Bates on drums, Anne Marie McStraw on fiddle and pipes, Paul McGhee on guitar and mandolin, Ben Sloan primarily on double bass and Owen Evans mostly heard on accordion.
Now working with Folkstock Records, The Black Guards are releasing this single on 17th March, with an EP and album in the offing, all produced by Lauren Deakin Davies.
"Folkstock is an independent label who do all the plugging and promoting in house, and are known for getting lots of national radio airtime and press, so we are really pleased that we are now working with them. If The Black Guards can capitalise on their expertise to get such widespread recognition, then it will be everything that we have worked for - and then some.”
Renowned for their blistering energy and well honed songs, the band has already sold out its debut single launch on 17th March at Cleator Moor Celtic FC. Drawn In will be available on iTunes, Spotify and the usual digital outlets from the 17th March.
